Install 3 ji. How to set up mobile Internet on Android: instructions and life hacks. MNC code is different for different operators

Today, we can safely say that the 3G network in the territory Russian Federation took place. And the time has come to use this type of high-speed communication. And since 2015, the 4G network has taken place, so it's time to think about it too.

The first thing you need to make sure before connecting a 3G connection is that the phone supports this type of connection. This is not difficult to do by looking for the characteristics of the device in the instructions. You can find this information in the phone settings or on the sites about mobile phones, of which there are many, but the most complete and honest GSM Arena, available at www.gsmarena.com. For example, in the technical data Alcatel OneTouch Pixi 3 (4.5) says it supports two kinds of SIM cards:

  1. miniSIM - 3
  2. microSIM - 4G.

If your phone supports 3G, then go to the next step. It can be realized without your participation if the device supports automatic tuning parameters of the 3G network. Some devices do not have this feature, and you will have to manually configure them yourself. Remember if you have blocked the function of connecting a mobile device to the network via a SIM card. It must be activated.

Below we see the types of the network. Many do not know what this means. Let's move on to the settings.

Types of mobile networks

Here is a screen from a smartphone, by which you can navigate how to set up a 3G network on a mobile phone.

LTE

Long-Term Evolution is one of the wireless communication standards. It is considered a descendant of GSM / EDGE and UMTS / HSPA, the transmission protocol is similar, but the speed of information exchange is higher. Although pure LTE is touted by operators as 4G technology, its specification does not meet this condition and is spelled out by the 3GPP consortium as an interim.

The bands of this communication group differ by country, so the phone must be multi-band. And this can be judged only by indirect data from the site www.gsmarena.com. However, it is also wrong to classify LTE as a previous generation, because the improvements have been significant. In fact, the standards are met by the LTE-A (advanced) specification, and it is called True 4G, and denoted by 4G +. From the information www.gsmarena.com it is not clear exactly what Alcatel OneTiuch supports. Thus, the data cannot be said to be exhaustive.

Bandwidth increased by reducing the latency between packets, changing processing methods and modulation nuances of the radio signal. LTE operates on its own frequency, because it is completely incompatible with previous versions of wireless communication cellular operators... The real maximum download speed is 326.4 Mbps, which is almost three times lower than that of the real 4G. Uplink is twice as slow.

Channel division (in addition to the code channel) occurs due to frequency and time separation. Among the leaders cellular communication new generation along with South Korea and Japan is Kazakhstan. RF is somewhere in the middle of the list. The only consolation is that Kazakhstan has surpassed America in this regard. At long distances, the receiving frequency decreases, and the real speed can be 1 Mbps. In the Russian Federation, the bands 2600 MHz, 1800 MHz (the most common, the range of up to 6.8 km) and 800 MHz are used for the most part. A number of useful frequencies in our country are still occupied by analogue television broadcasting.

For lTE providers advantageous in that there are gradual upgrade algorithms from UMTS. But cellular telephone will never give maximum performance. This requires an external antenna. Then the speeds can become really significant. And so LTE can be called solid 3G. Everything else is advertising gimmicks.

LTE-A

According to the 3GPP rules, this protocol is described by the specification of the 10th version. LTE-A is one of the few officially recognized as the fourth generation of cellular communications. Improvements are achieved cleanly quantitative methods... Not only the channel bandwidth expands, but also it becomes possible to occupy separate parts of the spectrum, scattered over the range. In Russia, LTE-A was the first to occupy the Garden Ring. This happened on February 25, 2014. The network operated at a maximum speed of 300 Mbps, but it was called 4G for advertising purposes. With that said, we need to clarify whether the phone supports LTE-A. If the answer is negative, then there can be nothing on the device except 3G Internet.

UMTS

One of the most widespread 3G communication standards. Developed with the aim of introducing this concept into European use. The theoretical speed threshold is 42 Mbps with HSPA +. Otherwise - half as much. Based on the GSM standard. Uses code division into channels. In practice, the average speed is about a third of Mbps.

GSM

Second generation mobile communications... It is included in the work when other protocols pass. On average, a bitrate of 9.6 kbps passes through the channel. This is just zero compared to today's 3G standards. One of the intermediate technologies is GPRS, often referred to as 2.5G. The second generation includes:

  • HSCSD.

To transitions between 2 and 3:

  • GPRS.
  • EDGE.
  • CDMA2000.

Setting up your phone manually

So, on the phones, there are mainly protocols of only the 3G family, with the transition to 2G, when the connection with a higher bit rate fails. This means that Internet access is always carried out using third-generation protocols, if conditions permit. 4G can sometimes come into play if supported by the cellular operator. For example, on the MTS website, according to the classification, the intermediate generation of specification 9 is advertised, unless the moderators and designers have made a mistake.

The settings are different and depend on the mobile operator, and the installation method is different for each model of the device. Therefore, to find out how to connect 3G on your phone, it is better to contact the operator directly. Connection information can be found at the following links:

  1. MTS - http://www.mts.ru/mobil_inet_and_tv/help/settings/settings_phone/inet_settings/
  2. Beeline - http://moskva.beeline.ru/customers/help/mobile/mobilnyy-internet/nastroika-telefona/
  3. Megafon - https://moscow.megafon.ru/help/faq/#nastroit-internet

If it is impossible to enter the information site mobile operator and rewrite the network access settings, then you can try the following data:

  • Name: Beeline
  • Username: beeline
  • APN: internet.beeline.ru
  • Password: beeline
  • APN type: default
  • APN protocol: IPv4
  • Authentication Type: PAP
  • Name: MTS
  • Username: mts
  • APN: internet.mts.ru
  • Password: mts
  • MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
  • MSS: 250
  • MNC: 01
  • APN type: default
  • Name: megafon
  • Username: gdata
  • APN: internet
  • Password: gdata
  • APN type: default
  • MCC: 250
  • MNC: 02

Let's look at the setup procedure step by step using the example of Nokia Lumia 520

  • Go to the menu and select the SETTINGS item.
  • In the SETTINGS find the ACCESS POINT.
  • We press + (add).
  • In the window you must fill in: name, username, APN, password.

As soon as access works, 3G will be automatically picked up. We continue to configure:

  • Exit to the SETTINGS menu.
  • Click on the item CELLULAR + SIM.
  • Set the data transfer lever to OFF.
  • Below, under the inscription "the fastest connection" we set the 3G mode.
  • Click on SIM CARD SETTINGS.
  • Set SEARCH FOR NETWORKS in the menu.
  • After a few seconds of searching, select the operator you want.
  • Go back and set the data transfer lever to ON.

A 3G connection icon should appear on the display, it can be: 3G, H +, H, triangle. The absence of the icon indicates that an error has crept into the settings or you are out of the 3G network area. You can try to restart your mobile phone.

If you use a device with two SIM-cards, please note that only one of two cards will work in 3G. As a rule, the first slot is provided for cards with 3G. On some phones, the supported type of communication is indicated next to the slot.

Usually, when the 3G signal is lost, the device automatically switches to 2G mode and back. But in some cases, phones do this incorrectly and may not detect the network at all. In this case, make sure you have automatic network search set. If not, turn it on.

Real 3G speed

The speed that the 3G connection supports reaches 42.2 Mbps, provided that the smartphone supports the HSDPA + standard. If the phone only supports HSDPA, then the speed will be half that - 22.1 Mbps. The actual speed is usually much less.

Connection speed can be measured by the Speedtest service. This application can be downloaded for iOS, Android platforms, Windows Phone... The program is easy to operate and has only one "Start" button located under the animated speedometer.

After measurement, the results: traffic speed and connection speed can be sent by e-mail, for example, to the network operator. The Results tab stores data about previous measurements.

It should be noted that the speed may vary and depends on the region, signal strength and travel speed. At a speed of 100 km / h, the speed of data transmission and reception drops several times.

Finally, advice. Practical measurements have shown that a smartphone in 3G mode consumes 20-30% more electricity. Therefore, if you do not need to use 3G connection all the time, then work in 2G (Settings menu), and the high-speed mode is turned on as needed. If it is convenient, of course. Very simple technical information can be seen on the example of the MTS 3G modem, which was sold several years ago.

It is difficult to meet subscribers who have never used the mobile Internet: watching the news, communicating on social networks and monitoring e-mail are only part of the actions that the customers of mobile operators perform on a daily basis. How to connect 3G on your mobile gadget and get a high connection speed? Is there a difference between Internet settings for different telecom operators? In the current article, these issues will be discussed in detail.

Customization options

In modern mobile devices, there is no need to manually configure the Internet, since the setting of the parameters necessary for connection is performed automatically at the moment of inserting the SIM card into the corresponding slot and registering on the network. All the user has to do is make sure mobile data is connected on the phone and the connection type is set. The type of connection means the type of network - 2G / 3G or LTE. You can connect 3G Internet to your phone without any problems by setting the appropriate value in the settings of your mobile gadget. If the telecom operator to which the SIM card belongs supports the new and high-speed 4G Internet mode, then you should use it, after making sure that the device supports operation in this mode.

Connection procedure

How can a subscriber start using the Internet?

Check if the "Internet" service is connected on the SIM card - we are not talking about specialized options and tariff plansproviding traffic packages. The "Internet" service is basic and is present on every number by default.

Make sure that the required settings are present on the device. To do this, you need to go to the general settings of the phone, find the section with the settings of the cellular network and find the access point of the corresponding operator in the list.

If there are no settings, then you should set them manually.

Test your internet connection by loading a web page or opening an application that uses the network.

How to connect 3G to MTS subscribers

The principle of setting up the Internet is not much different for different telecom operators. How to connect 3G on an MTS number? Very simple! The parameters are set in the standard menu of the gadget "Settings", the items "Cellular network" - "Cellular data" - "Network settings" are selected - depending on the type and version of the operating system, the names may be different. In the section "Access points" you need to create a new one and fill in the indicated fields with the appropriate data. For each company that provides communication services, the values \u200b\u200bare different. Here is information on the MTS operator.

Access point (APN) - Internet.mts.ru

For the fields "Login" and "Password" specify identical values \u200b\u200b- MTS.

Authentication type - PAP /.

You do not need to edit the Access Point Type parameter - Default.

This is quite enough. After specifying the data, you must save the setting.

How to set up 3G on the phone for Megafon subscribers

Setting parameters for the Internet of a white-green telecom operator is carried out in the same section. When installing a SIM card in a new gadget, a new mobile access point should be created. If the Megafon access point is already available in the phone settings, then you should open its parameters and correct them in accordance with the data below.

Access Point (APN) - Internet.

It is not necessary to fill in the data for the fields "Login" and "Password" - the fields can be left blank (if the gadget does not accept blank fields, then you can specify the following values: gdata).

Authentication Type (Leavespecified in the settings default) - PAP.

How to connect 3G on phone after APN creation? After the access point has been created or "adjusted", you should check the network type - making sure that the priority of the 3G network is set. Then you should turn on mobile data on the phone and test the Internet by downloading the page through a browser or through an application that functions only when the network is turned on.

Setting up the Internet for other mobile operators

Subscribers of "Beeline" are concerned about the question of how to connect 3G, no less than customers using communication services of other companies. Going to the section with settings, you should set the following parameters:

Access point (APN) - Internet.beeline.ru.

For the fields "Login"And" Password »The same values \u200b\u200bshould be specified - beeline.

Authentication type (keep the default) - PAP.

Access point type - Default.

For SIM cards of the operator "Tele2", the Internet is configured as follows:

Access point (APN) - internet.tele2.ru.

You do not need to fill in the login and password, as well as other parameters set by default.

The article was about how to connect 3G on the phone for various telecom operators. Please note that the difference in setting up the Internet lies only in the values \u200b\u200bthat are prescribed for the corresponding access points in the settings of the mobile device. Otherwise, the actions are performed in the same way.

We live and move in the world of information flows, making dozens of phone calls, while not always being in the office or at home, in one way or another facing the 3G standard (short for "third generation"). Let's ask ourselves the question: "What is 3G in a phone?"

Europe is guided by a special "dialect" of the specified standard - UMTS, which is a compromise between a higher quality CDMA standard and a larger coverage and number of GSM subscribers. 3G networks operate in the decimeter range, approximately 2 GHz, with a data transfer rate of 1-3 Mbps. The basic services of 3G networks include voice communication and data transmission. Those who criticize this complex of services for low confidentiality, recalling the previous standard, do not understand what 3G is in a phone now. Today, high-speed data transmission provides communication as a business area ( email, video conferencing, remote access to databases, account), and personal interests (games, social networks, multimedia complexes, Internet shopping). The transmission speed changes in inverse proportion to the speed of the object. In case of being on the spot - 2048 Kbps, when driving at a speed of up to 3 km / h - 348 Kbps, up to 120 km / h - 144 Kbps. Popular with users unlimited Internet mobile, giving them the opportunity for a fixed unlimited use of the resources of the global network. Many people are interested in the question: "How to choose the optimal operator?" The answer is simple. First, determine if the coverage area suits you. Then estimate the rates of the provider. Then make a decision.

But what is 3G Internet? Not only mobile phones... If you have a PC, netbook, laptop, then to connect to wireless internet you need a 3G modem. The most versatile is a USB modem that connects directly to a USB port on a computer.

Besides it, there are options for ExpressCard, PCMCIA. For the subsequent reliable signal reception, the choice of the quality of the device in question, its signal transmission speed is fundamental. It's good if the nearest provider tower is close. At a distance of 10-50 km, the stable operation of the modem will be ensured by the internal one, which will strengthen it by 5-10 decibels, but sometimes an external, more powerful one is needed. For this, you may need 3G Wi-Fi router... Please note that for three frequency bands of the 3G Internet: 450, 800, 2100 MHz, the corresponding modem with an antenna is selected.

The market for modern smartphones and communicators is rapidly developing. These are "classic" devices that illustrate what 3G is in a phone. In addition to voice communication, they are equipped with a built-in 3G modem and serve information exchange with the WWW. HTC and Samsung (Android platform) and Apple (iOS operating system) are at the forefront of progress.

Nowadays, mobile devices with a large diagonal - tablets - are gaining popularity among users. This device may contain an integrated 3G modem (which is recommended, especially if the manufacturer is China), if not, then you need to purchase it. A situation of "non-acceptance" of drivers of a separately purchased modem is possible.

Dialectics, scientists' deep understanding of the question “what is 3G in a phone” led to the next stage - 4G. Despite the existing potential, 3G is just a separate stage of global development. 4G technology, which has another name - TermEvolution), improves existing networks, increasing the speed, as well as the volume of transmitted information. Norway and Sweden pioneered new technology. Further development there is no alternative: the Russian basic providers Beeline, MTS, Megafon have already begun work in accordance with the international agreement on communication services in the LTE standard.

Capabilities modern internet simply amaze the imagination, now every owner of a smartphone or tablet can easily surf sites, communicate in in social networks and even play online games. Having bought a gadget with the function of a faster and more perfect 3G Internet, the owner of the device does not know how to enable 3G on LG, we have devoted this review to the answer to this question.

In most cases, the 3G high-speed Internet mode is already active on the smartphone, if of course it supports this function. Also, a SIM card from a cellular operator should also have the appropriate functionality. Both of these conditions are mandatory, otherwise, you will not be able to use 3G at all, so when buying a smartphone and a SIM card, make sure that they support this possibility.

If the signal is good, you will see the inscription “3G” next to its indicator, which means that the service is active and you can use all the functions of your phone to the fullest. If this icon does not appear, go to the settings of your smartphone, activate high speed internet it will be possible here.

  • If, when trying to access the network, the phone constantly displays an error and you cannot solve the problem on its own, seek professional help from the specialists of the LG service center. So you will receive a full list of services: hardware diagnostics and repair of all models of LG smartphones.

This instruction will allow you to enable 3G on any LG smartphone, the main condition for the device to work on the basis of the Android operating system.

Go to the phone menu, usually a gear icon. Here you need to select the item "MORE", it is in the first column with headings, go to " mobile network". AT this section you can see various additional settings networks, including "setting up 3G". Click on this section and proceed to the selection of parameters.

Here you will see such operating modes of the gadget as: only GSM, only UMTS, UMTS / GSM (automatically). It would be best to check the box next to the last mode, however, if you are absolutely sure about high quality signal, you can set "only UMTS", that is, only the maximum speed of the Internet connection.

In the case of activating the "GSM only" mode, the Internet speed will be very slow, but the cellular signal level will become maximum.

I hope this instruction helped you in solving the task, and you were able to enable 3G on your smartphone yourself.

The Internet is as vital a need on a mobile device as it is on a PC. The network modes are different - from practically unused 2G to 5G, the development of which is just underway. The mobile Internet can be configured or disabled in several ways: it all depends on the capabilities of your gadget and the settings of the network itself.

What is the difference between mobile Internet in networks of different generations

Many set up an automatic network mode (2G / 3G / 4G) and freely travel around cities and regions as if nothing had happened. However, there are differences in speed.

In practice, 2G Internet has already become so slow that it is used "out of hunger" when there is no 3G / 4G coverage, but you still need to work. Today, 2G is almost zero speed due to congestion with subscribers. GPRS / EDGE packet data does not have priority over services for which the GSM voice channel is used (calls, SMS, USSD commands like * 100 # and other services). Many people keep the 2G network switched on only because it "eats" less battery power. If you are indifferent to battery consumption, feel free to turn on 3G or 4G forcibly. In an amicable way, it would be time to close the GSM / 2G standards - there is no more sense from them than from 3G, and the radio resource is spent less efficiently. The speed reserve of a GSM / EDGE base station is only no more than 10 Mbit / s, which is divided between subscribers (each of them accounts for no more than 200 kbit / s).

3G, unlike 2G, provides real speed from hundreds of kilobits to units of megabits per device - from unlimited traffic almost all the needs of a modern user are solved at the tariff. There is a 3G network in all cities of the country and in many localities. Data is transferred constantly, regardless of calls and SMS. The performance margin of one sector of the "tower" is up to 42 Mbit / s (this speed is divided between subscribers). Higher-speed 3G technologies (84, 168 and 336 Mbit / s for reception and up to 72 Mbit / s for transmission) have been developed - but their massive introduction has been canceled in many countries due to the rapid growth in the popularity of 4G. MTS, Beeline and MegaFon have very good 3G coverage throughout Russia in cities and towns. Actively building a 3G network "Tele2", which was among the last to receive a 3G license. The network already exists in many places in the regions where this operator is present.

But 4G coverage is not available everywhere. Development of the VoLTE service (transmission of IP voice over LTE networks) - in fact, an analogue of IP telephony in broadband wire networks - to this day, these are only promises from operators, but the 4G network works even faster than 3G - up to 20 Mbps you will definitely get it, and with such a speed, any problems can be solved in the network. The bandwidth of one 4G tower is 75–300 Mbit / s - but the subscriber gets a much lower speed: here the same division between devices. The best 4G coverage in Russia today is provided by mobile providers MTS and Beeline. Next are MegaFon and Yota, while Tele2 has the smallest 4G zone.

On the YOTA website, blue indicates 3G, blue - 4G, bright blue - planned 4G coverage

5G is already under development, and telecom operators are conducting tests - including in Russia. The network will actually provide up to 100 Mbit / s per subscriber (the performance margin of one base station will be from units of gigabits per second), which will allow the subscriber to refuse the services of city providers or use the latter at facilities where, according to the regulations, the use of any wireless networks is prohibited. The first commercial 5G networks will not appear until 2020.

How to set up cellular internet on Android devices

You need to go through a series of procedures for the Internet to work on your Android device.

Connecting or checking service status

Before connecting to the Internet on your smartphone, first of all, make sure that the service of access to packet data networks is active on the SIM card. Earlier this service was called "GPRS-Internet", then its further continuation - "3G-Internet" appeared, then it was simply referred to as "Mobile Internet". To connect it, blitz commands USSD can be used (for example, for Beeline it is * 110 * 181 #).

Operators do not require anything special to access the Network via 4G, so the instructions for 3G and 4G are almost the same.

Internet gadget settings

To set up cellular internet, do the following:

  1. Enter the mobile data settings via the "Settings" - "More" - "Mobile data" command. Select the function you want to configure settings for cellular networks
  2. If you live near the border, make sure data roaming is turned off.
  3. Configure your preferred networks. This step can be useful, for example, if you use the Internet from Tele2 and will soon go to a region where it is not available in Russia (Internet from Tele2, according to the latest innovations in the field of tariffs of this network, works at "home prices" in " Beeline "throughout Russia). In many other cases, you can skip this step. The first on the list should be networks that have home roaming rates
  4. Choose 3G or 4G technology. It depends on which one your smartphone or tablet supports. An example of choosing a technology on an Archos 70b Xenon Color tablet without 4G
  5. Configure the entry point (APN) by going to the appropriate item. Usually, the cellular provider sends the APN settings and when the SIM card is replaced, the settings are automatically loaded and switched to the desired APN settings. Choose APN specifically for Internet access
  6. If auto-registration of APN did not happen, select any of the existing ones (or create a new APN profile) and write down your settings recommended by the operator in it. Selectable APN parameter is editable
  7. The main thing is to make sure your device is allowed to use cellular data at all. Give the command "Settings" - "Data transmission", go to the "Operator" tab (let it be Beeline) and make sure that cellular data is turned on. If you do not enable the topmost slider, there will be no Internet access
  8. If your plan is not completely unlimited, you can set a traffic limit, when approaching which, the Android system will notify you with a message in the very top line of the screen. When the limit is reached, the device will automatically suspend access to the network - according to the schedule for which the Android traffic scheduler was configured.
  9. If your gadget supports two SIM cards, do not forget to set the priority of the data SIM card on which unlimited is active. Even if there are no other SIM cards in the device, the Android system will give you confirmation even for this single inserted SIM card. In the window for selecting a SIM card for the Internet, the number and numbers of installed SIM cards is indicated

An abundance of parameters (default servers, port number, name and password for logging into the APN server, proxy settings, etc.) on almost any gadget - based on Android, iOS, Blackberry, Symbian and Windows - is given in case all of a sudden any of the operators will change their settings tomorrow and will require the entry of all these parameters or some of them. Today, Russian operators work practically without settings - or they only require an APN server.

APN settings for different operators

Manual entry of APN addresses can help if, for some reason, the autoinstallation of the desired APN failed.

Table: APN entry points for different operators

Internet access without settings

Most operators use access without settings: even if you have incorrect or incomplete connection settings, you can already go online without fear that your tariff will not work. Once upon a time it was extremely important to register the correct settings specifically for the Internet Access service, and not for WAP. But, since WAP as a service has practically died, access to network resources may be on an unconfigured gadget. Nevertheless, operators send their subscribers APN settings for the Internet and for MMS - they are in no hurry to refuse MMS, and the cost of MMS messages is last years greatly decreased. The user only needs to check whether the entry point has been chosen specifically for the Internet service. In some cases, the choice of APN Internet occurs automatically on a command from the operator himself.

Being in the 3G / 4G coverage area, the gadget will automatically switch to the corresponding network - 3G or 4G, if the automatic network mode is selected. Both technologies are good enough for high-speed mobile internet.

How to disable internet access on Android

There are two ways to disconnect the Internet:

  • through the operator - blocking the service of access to the Network on the SIM card (for example, this can be done with " personal account"On the operator's website or by calling subscription service from another device);
  • programmatically - directly on the device itself.

In addition to disabling the "Mobile data" slider in the already familiar data transfer submenu, other methods are used. Each of them can be used separately from the others - and the result is guaranteed: data transmission will become impossible.

Disable internet in the settings menu

The easiest way to turn off internet on Android is to turn off data transfer. You can do this by sliding down the notification shade and clicking on the icon of your SIM card, and then moving the slider to the inactive position.

Click on your network icon to enter data management mode

You can also get to the mobile Internet management menu through the "Settings".

Video: how to turn off the Internet on your phone

Operation of the device in airplane mode

In flight mode, you can turn on Wi-Fi or Bluetooth and continue using the Internet from other devices - the cellular network mode will not turn on and cellular internet will still not be available until you cancel airplane mode.

Controlling Packet Data Using Traffic Limits

You can lower the bar for the total traffic limit even below the level to which its consumption by the gadget has reached, in the already familiar submenu of mobile data. The Internet on the device will pause immediately.

If you lower the limit below the traffic, access to the mobile Internet will disappear

Prohibiting batch data from the Android engineering menu

If you prohibit access to the Internet using the engineering menu, communication is blocked in the standards of all networks supported in your country. This will prevent the gadget from finding any networks at all - not the essence, 2G, 3G or 4G. This is the most sophisticated method for sophisticated Android users.

  1. Call the Android engineering menu by typing the command * # * # 3646633 # * # * using the dial pad of the "Phone" application. As soon as you enter the last character of the command * # * # 3646633 # * # * - the engineering menu will open
  2. Give the command Telephony - Band Mode. To turn off data transmission, you can turn off the frequency bands in a given country
  3. Go to the menu for one of the SIM cards. In the Band Mode item, select one of the SIM-cards from the list, if you have several
  4. Mark one band 2G, 3G and 4G, which are not supported in your country, press the Set key and close the engineering menu. Include ranges of other countries, for example USA
  5. After restarting, the gadget will not be able to find any of the available networks. To return to normal operation with cellular networks, go back to the same engineering submenu and turn on the previously operating 2G / 3G / 4G frequency bands.

To prevent another person from using the Internet from your SIM card, set up parental controls in Android. This measure does not apply to disabling Internet access through the operator's subscription service. You can also set up parental controls through "Settings" - "Users" - "Add user".

Clearing APN profile on device

Deleting APN settings from the gadget will not help if network access is active on the SIM card without settings. When you insert another SIM card or "poke" the same SIM, the operator will send you its APN settings to your device - and will automatically select the APN Internet entry point. This is done for convenience - so that the user can immediately use the mobile Internet. Therefore, removing the APN does not make sense. Use other methods to limit or turn off the Internet on the device.

What to do if the mobile Internet does not work on the device

The reasons that mobile Internet does not work on an Android device, quite a lot - both on the subscriber's side and on the operator's side. Also, problems can be caused by malfunctions in the device itself.

Causes of problems on the subscriber's side

Mobile internet may not work due to some:

In the latter case, double-check the Android settings according to the instructions above, or reset the device using the hidden Reset button, after copying important data and pulling out the memory card (if any) from the gadget.

System causes of network problems on Android

The Android system is also fraught with some problems that can interfere with network access.

System files of drivers and libraries responsible for the "modem firmware" (the operation of the gadget's cellular radio modules) can be deleted by the user in the following cases:

  • careless actions with the Root procedure ("crooked" Root application);
  • hasty actions with third-party file managers;
  • inadequate user work with files in the / system / folder.

The result is unpredictable tablet behavior in seemingly normal conditions. So, it is possible that even when manually searching for networks, not all networks are displayed (or none), although their coverage is declared by operators and confirmed by other smartphones and tablets - not necessarily with Android - at the same point on the map where you are.

Android viruses and unverified programs

It is possible to install applications that have not been verified by the Google Play service that have added a malicious extension (virus, spammer, SMS sender to short numbers, etc.). A virus attack on Android crashes vital Android system processes and services.

If the item "Allow the installation of applications from unknown sources" is active, there is a high probability of picking up a virus from an unprotected site

Android device compatibility errors

A “custom” version of Android is working, but the built-in cellular modem is unstable or refuses to start (incompatible modem firmware). If a different version of the Android kernel or firmware is installed, the device not only will not go online, but will not start at all. Service center assistance may be required.

Causes of network problems on the operator's side

A cellular provider, like any data transmission network, can also throw any of the "surprises" to its subscribers:

  • there is no 3G / 4G coverage in this area (for example, a mountain range, regions of the Far North);
  • the 3G / 4G network is overloaded (the abundance of subscribers, the peak of activity, the operator is ahead of the unlimited traffic market);
  • frequent auto-restart of the base station due to overload and freezes (protection of modern BS from traffic overload);
  • problems with the "transport" network - the optical cable of the BS or the main line is broken during careless work near it;
  • re-launch, forced testing ("run") of the network in your area;
  • a sharp decrease in the level of the 3G / 4G signal due to a power outage;
  • burnout of terminal blocks of BS as a result of lightning strikes in bad weather in the "tower" (rarely, but possibly even with the available protection against thunderstorms);
  • frequent reboot, decrease in BS speed due to interference caused by a thunderstorm;
  • modernization at the BS or a section of the transport network: replacement of equipment and other planned works carried out by the specialists of the operator.

Specific cases of Internet inoperability on Android

There are more than enough more specific reasons for the inoperable Internet on Android devices. The most common ones are taken as an example.

Data transfer does not turn on

Although the Android operating system monitors the activity of SIM-cards and regularly "prescribes" all functions from them - calls, SMS and MMS, Internet settings - in its basic settings, there may be cases when data transmission is not turned on. The reasons may be as follows:

  • you have assigned the wrong SIM card (if there are two or more of them in the device), on which everything is ready for Internet access;
  • the presence of only one of the SIM-cards in the device;
  • crash or bug in Android version;
  • broken SIM-card slot during its careless removal (now the selected SIM-card is inactive);
  • your mobile device "Locked" for one operator - SIM-cards of other operators refuse to work with mobile data.

Do the following (optional, depending on the situation):

Cellular data turns on but doesn't work

If the Internet settings are turned on, but do not work, again, the reason may lie both on the operator's side (network malfunctions or congestion on your part of the network), and on the subscriber's side (not paid on time, unlimited, etc.).

In this case, the indication of data transfer - markers G, E, 3G, (D / M) H (+), 4G (+) / LTE in the upper part - is present, but the traffic is not going. Outgoing requests go away - the incoming data is not received, there is no response from the called server. The browser, when entering any site, says that it is impossible to open the site, and clients of social networks and other programs write: there is no Internet. Cellular data often fails due to very weak signal. Change your location.

G / E / H / 3G markers change frequently in Android notification bar

It is normal for the G / E / H / 3G markers to change frequently. First you need to figure out what it is.

The 3G symbol is the 3G data transmission medium in the rest mode of the gadget (data is not used). The 3G marker is a WCDMA / UMTS network as such: the available low-level speed from which the third generation of mobile communications began is 384 kbps (for reception and transmission separately).

H (HSPA), H + (HSPA +), DH + (DC-HSPA +), MH + (MC-HSPA +) are the stages of development of high-speed data exchange based on 3G / UMTS. These are multi-megabit technologies (3.6–336 Mbit / s, depending on the equipment of 3G base stations), thanks to which comfortable work on the Web is ensured through mobile data.

G (GPRS) and E (EDGE) are the stages of implementation and development of packet data in legacy GSM / 2G cellular networks. GPRS supports speeds up to 115.2 kbps and EDGE up to 236.8 kbps per device.

The marker in the upper right corner in the notification bar shows the type of Internet connection

In 4G networks, the “4G” marker may change to “4G +” (LTE-Advanced). It is possible to replace LTE with LTE-A (or LTE +) - on the latest models of smartphones and tablets and in the web interface of modems and routers. We are talking about speeds of 75-10 and 150-300 Mbit / s, respectively.

Now we can answer the question why these letters change. Whenever the subscriber activates data transmission, base station provides it with the highest possible technological speed that it maintains - despite fluctuations in real (final) speed. So, if your 3G has changed to H +, consider this good sign: your mobile internet is flying!

How to avoid future problems

  1. In order to prevent similar problems in the future, carefully check from time to time the status of your tariff for excess subscriptions and services, sometimes imposed by the operator - do not allow unscheduled debiting of funds and blocking the number. Pay for your unlimited on time.
  2. From time to time, check the 3G / 4G coverage map of the places where you often travel. In case of discrepancies, contact your operator. A good sign if network coverage is improved somewhere. It is also useful to keep track of his progress on the quality of the Internet and its networks, but not necessarily.
  3. Be careful when manipulating Android system files and folders. Do not use applications from questionable sources. Do not install applications that block or restrict data transfer. In case of errors, reset or flash the gadget.
  4. Do not "poke" the SIM-cards for every slightest reason - after several hundred rearrangements, the SIM-card may break, because it is a very fragile element. SIM replacement is most often done when more “tasty” conditions appear from another operator (another discount, promotion, new tariff).

AT modern world cellular internet is provided by the operator automatically. If, when installing a new SIM-card, the Internet was not configured automatically, in any case, there are many ways to enable it - manually entering APN addresses, setting through "Mobile data" and so on. You can turn off the Internet both through the same "Settings" and through airplane mode or parental control.
