Every year the world celebrates the International Children's Day, which is celebrated in our country on the first day of summer - June 1 and is called Children's Day. This name is due to the fact that the childhood of every child should be protected by the rights, health and life of the younger generation.
International Children's Day is one of the oldest international holidays... The decision to hold it was taken in 1925 at the World Conference on the Welfare of Children in Geneva.
It is not known exactly why this children's party it was decided to celebrate June 1st. According to one version, in 1925, the Consul General of China in San Francisco gathered a group of Chinese orphans and arranged for them a celebration of Duan-wu jie (Dragon Boat Festival), the date of which fell on June 1. By a lucky coincidence, the day coincided with the time of the "children's" conference in Geneva.
The history of this holiday goes back to the post-war period. In November 1949, a congress of women was held in Paris, at which an oath was taken to fight tirelessly to ensure lasting peace as the only guarantee of children's happiness. A year later, in 1950, on June 1, the first International Children's Day was held. After that, every year on this first summer day, a holiday was held in honor of the younger generation.
Children's Day is widely celebrated in many countries around the world. On this day, the first day of summer, festive events are organized in squares, parks and educational and cultural institutions.

In Asia and Africa, children are threatened by hunger, military conflicts, deadly diseases, and illiteracy. Child mortality in less developed countries almost 2 times higher than in normally developing ones.
One cannot fail to note the huge number of orphans in our country, for example, in 2010 there were 750,000 orphans in Russia, 95% of whom have living parents. For comparison, we can say that in the post-war years this figure was less. Total orphans in the country annually increases by 15,000.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, out of 100 minors in our country, two are street children.
Each of us must remember that every child should have a childhood, and each child deserves love and respect for himself.

In the era of existence Soviet Union Summer holidays began on June 1 at schools. International Children's Day was celebrated with speeches and discussions on the rights and well-being of children, screenings of new children's films and TV shows, sports competitions for children, often inviting parents to participate.
