Satellite wi fi routers. Satellite Internet. Wi-Fi access. Why buy from us

As a rule, in the country from computer technology most often, laptop or tablet computers are used, which are equipped with a wireless communication module of the WiFi standard. This makes it possible not to entangle the house and even more so the site with local wires computer network... So, to organize a wireless Wi-Fi network in the country or in country house only access point (AP) is needed. If, in addition to organizing a local network, you also need the Internet in the country, then you need to connect the point wiFi access to any Internet provider.

Currently, there are several technologies for providing access to the Internet in the country. Given the seasonality of residence of potential subscribers and the long payback period of such investments, Internet providers using wired access technology are in no hurry to lay optical or copper communication lines in horticultural non-profit partnerships... In this case, it remains to consider options for connecting to the Internet only via wireless communication channels:

 • channel access cellular communication: GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Ev-Do
 • access via LTE technology (Yota, Megafon)
 • access by technology
 • access by two-way satellite communication technology:, from Rainbow-Internet.

You can choose the best Internet for your dacha by analyzing several factors: which providers are covered by your dacha, what access speed is provided by the provider and what will be the cost per traffic unit. It is also necessary to take into account the cost of the necessary equipment and its installation (if required). If your home falls into the zone of reliable 3G signal reception, then buying a USB modem will cost you inexpensively, and maybe even completely free when you sign a contract with a cellular operator for several months. In second place in terms of the cost of subscriber equipment is yota equipment and Megaphone LTE, then - equipment for connection to WiMax and closes this list with equipment of two-way satellite communication VSAT. More recently, the use of vSAT terminals only the corporate sector could afford it, but since March 2013, with the appearance on the market with a cost of 16,900 rubles, it became possible to consider this type of connection for summer cottages.

Unfortunately, using a USB modem in the country does not always give a satisfactory result - the connection may be cut off or the download speed may be low. The most common reason for this is the distance from base station and the inability of the built-in antenna of the modem to receive a weak signal. The use of specialized equipment with an external directional antenna in the same conditions can radically change the situation and increase the connection speed tenfold.

Currently, our company is organizing a wireless WiFi network in dachas with connection to high speed internet via 3G, 4G (LTE) technology and two-way satellite communication channels.

Technical solutions for organizing WiFi networks in a country house or dacha

If your existing WiFi network is experiencing constant problems of poor reception in your home, due to the large area of the rooms, and powerful routers do not support the required coverage area, then our ready solution consisting of a system of access points combined via a wired or wireless channel. With the help of access points presented on professional equipment, you can realize seamless WiFi signal reception not only in the house, but also in the area around the house.

SOLUTION # 1

Our recent review of the organization satellite access on the Internet from StarBlaizer seemed incomplete, because there was no magic word "router" in it. And I really want to organize a simple and comfortable connection for many devices at home or in a small office! And here StarBlazer offers us a series of firmware developed for popular routers. You will, of course, need a StarBlazer SB340-USB receiver and something else. So, first things first.

Competitors

As you might guess, this development was based on a wonderful scheme: you sew a router with new firmware, connect all the components to it, it sets up the connections and tunnels by itself - and as a result, you get the Internet throughout the network with automatic distribution of IP addresses. This is exactly how I would like to see the work of our complex system, in which a router, a USB modem from, a USB hub with external power supply from KS-is, satellite receiver StarBlazer SB340-USBas well as a roof-mounted 90 cm antenna with LBA and 20 meters of cable with F-connectors.

Most of the devices have been with us since the last review. Only D-Link DIR-320 was invited to visit - before that, he quietly and peacefully distributed the Internet in the country. By the way, Asus WL-500G Premium V2, TP-Link TL-WR1043ND, D-Link DIR-320 - these models of routers can be turned into the so-called SB-Router.

SB-Router | Firmware procedure

Conversion procedure D-Link DIR-320 in SB-Router is described in detail. If another model of the three possible is selected for the firmware, there is no problem - all actions are explained in detail and step by step. It is also taken into account that the D-Link DIR-320 may not "recognize" the proposed firmware SB-Router for "native" and you will have to use the firmware method with manually disconnecting / connecting the router's power. A convenient utility is offered to start the firmware process flash_dlink.bat... It would be nice to add a file to the software package. tftp.exe - suddenly who doesn't? If you don't have it, download it.

SB-Router configurations

Satellite router SB-Router can work in one of four configurations:

 1. Home Ethernet Router with wiFi support... Performs virtually the same functions as the "base" home router models.
 2. 3G router for home network with WiFi support. Allows you to connect to the Internet via a 3G modem not only a separate computer, but also a whole home network, both via Ethernet and WiFi. To connect to the cellular network, a standard 3G modem is used or even cellular telephone with USB port.
 3. Satellite router for home network with WiFi support, using an Ethernet request channel. Allows you to connect to satellite Internet StarBlazer home network both via Ethernet and WiFi, without using a dedicated computer.
 4. Satellite router for home network with WiFi support, using 3G request channel. Allows you to connect to satellite Internet StarBlazer home network, both via Ethernet and WiFi, without using a dedicated computer. To connect to the cellular network, a standard 3G modem or a cell phone with a USB port is used.

Our choice is a WiFi-enabled satellite router for your home network using a 3G request channel. As a matter of fact, the satellite part and the 3G interrogation channel have already functioned successfully in our country. It remains to add a router with the appropriate firmware to them.

SB-Router | Putting the circuit together

Router D-Link DIR-320 has only one USB port, which we have expanded with a USB hub with external power from KS-is... In principle, the circuit starts up without additional USB feeding, but the modem clearly lacks power and an additional power supply is only beneficial. The USB port in our case carries a double load: through it the satellite receiver communicates with the router StarBlazer and a 3G modem.

We connect one of the LAN ports of the router with a cable to the RJ-45 port of the computer, having previously set the automatic selection of the IP address in the network settings. All these nuances are described in detail in the proprietary firmware manual SB-Router... If the antenna is tuned to the satellite (like ours), then everything is ready and after turning on the power it remains to configure the software.

Setting up SB-Router

The setting consists in the fact that you need to enter your registration data in the appropriate fields of the interface without changing other parameters. If everything is done this way, then the system is working. It is not by chance that we draw attention to this fact. The fact is that after loading the configuration file, seemingly strange at first glance IP addresses will appear in some fields. You don't need to touch them: we will only add the password, name and MAC address for the satellite receiver.

Entering registration information for setting up SB-Router

The firmware is a complete router software based on Openwrt, with many sections that extend the functionality of the router. Experienced users will be able to receive a variety of statistical information about the operation of the system, etc.

Interface software SB-Router

Those who see nothing more than letters and numbers in the setting lines can rejoice that the description of the firmware StarBlazer lists all the main screenshots and indicates the lines to be modified.

It's good that the 3G modem doesn't have to be configured - the system takes care of us. In fact, we didn't have to enter any numbers or letters in this section. But taking care of the place where the GSM reception is the best is worth it. Our experience shows that the signal from the satellite goes well, powerfully, which cannot be said about mobile communication, subject to significant signal attenuation and even its complete loss (and this is in Moscow!). And if there is no thin 3G thread along which data runs from us, then the wide channel towards us from StarBlazer, alas.

SB-Router | Performance comparison

An important point: by running SB-Router, we won in the convenience of organizing access to satellite Internet, but lost the ability to use the accelerator Slonax 3G... The very technology of creating a connection does not provide for its use. However, new firmware versions are already being prepared, for example 04rc6, which shows the intentions of developers to provide technology to users SB-Router the ability to use one of the accelerators. At least a stub for its configuration file has already appeared.

Workpiece for accelerator configuration in SB-Router software

Achieving maximum speeds will not be easy without the use of an accelerator. Our tests without an accelerator demonstrate very average performance, which is sufficient for surfing the web, but not enough for obtaining large amounts of data.

The symbiosis of wireless technologies: Wi-Fi and VSAT (wireless internal network using broadband radio channels + two-way satellite Internet) has significantly expanded the horizons of data processing and transmission over long distances. The main advantage of such a merger of technologies is determined by the complete rejection of the use of wired communication lines, which allows access to the most remote residential or industrial facilities. At the same time, the quality of communication and the speed of exchanging data packets is not inferior to wired technology, and in some cases surpasses it. If in the second case the speed is calculated in hundreds or thousands of kilobits per second, then for Wi-Fi and 50 megabits per second is not yet the limit.

Satellite Internet is slightly slower than a wireless LAN system due to the large distances that the signal overcomes. Symmetrical connection satellite internet gives you access to the following services:

Wireless Internet: Benefits

 • First of all, access to the Internet directly, and the exchange of information between a satellite platform and a DVB card (a substitute for a modem for receiving a signal from an antenna) in your computer occurs at speeds up to 2-4 Mbit / s
 • The ability to use IP-telephony, which ensures reliable communication even in areas where there are no landline communications of telephone companies
 • Video conferencing - recently widely used for remote meetings and negotiations between large businesses and industrial centers. The satellite signal provides high-quality video images transmitted in real time
 • Unlimited satellite TV viewing, connection to public radio channels

When used in conjunction with Wi-Fi technology, the satellite signal reception area increases to hundreds of meters. This creates a kind of territory for connecting to the hotspot system (wireless LAN station with broadband radio signal), from anywhere in the coverage area of the Wi-Fi terminal.

A flexible tariff scale will allow you to choose the most convenient traffic in terms of cost and access speed. With a fairly low price scale and high quality communications, few providers of terrestrial dial-up Internet will be able to compete quite confidently with satellite Internet.

Intrigued, but would like more information? Our employees will be happy to answer all your questions. If you are convinced that all of the above is the best fit for you, our company will provide you with everything necessary equipment and qualified specialists for the installation and configuration of the satellite Internet and Wi-Fi system as soon as possible.

Your unlimited connection to the world is in your hands. It is in our power to provide you with it.

The ability to watch digital satellite television in different places in an apartment or house requires time-consuming networking of several devices. Reason: Each TV receiver must be connected to a satellite dish using a coaxial cable.

Elgato EyeTV streams four programs to your home network simultaneously

Such complex networking is already outdated: a few years ago, a solution was demonstrated such as EyeTV Netstream by Elgato... The idea is as follows. The digital television signal is fed through the server to the home network. After that, via LAN or Wi-Fi, which has become common in many homes, television signals are transmitted to the end devices. These devices include not only TVs, but also computers, tablets and smartphones.

Until now, there was such a problem as the lack of a common standard for Elgato and other manufacturers for organizing IP live TV streaming. Instead, they came up with their own streaming solutions. Thus, it was impossible to combine devices from different manufacturers, and even with the adherence to devices from one company, the results in most cases were not pleasing.

AVM's FritzBox 6490 already has a SAT-IP server integrated

With SAT-IP, a protocol appeared (European standard 50585: 2014), which even integrates HD television into the home network. Thanks to the Sat-IP standard, devices from different manufacturers can be combined. Elgato has a Sat-IP server called EyeTV Netstream 4Sat, which additionally has a hardware transcoder built in. In this case, it does not matter whether a digital LNB device or a multiswitch (in apartment building). For cable connection in an apartment, it can distribute a television program on the network. Both options have a weakness: they only broadcast unencrypted TV programs.

CHIP will tell you more about this technology.

Streaming on your home network

The name SAT-IP can be misleading, since the protocol is supported not only by satellite TV, but also by cable and terrestrial (DVB-C and DVB-T).

The heart of SAT-IP technology is sAT-IP server, often referred to as dVB-IP converter... This server is located directly behind the television receiver and connects, for example, to a digital LNB (Low Noise Block - low noise monoblock converter) of a satellite dish or to a multiswitch.

There are several high frequency tuners hidden under the cover. Currently, SAT-IP servers with two to eight tuners are popular on the market. The tuners demodulate the TV signal, which at the next stage is packed into an IP packet and transmitted further.

Each tuner, according to the SAT-IP standard, can support both one client (Unicast) and simultaneously send a TV program to several receiving devices (Multicast). In this case, the data flow of Live-TV remains intact.

There are two servers with a built-in hardware transcoder that extends the functionality and is not a mandatory component of the SAT-IP standard.

In the home network, SAT-IP works on dLNA streaming protocol, subdivided into two levels: the media level through which the Live-TV data packets are transmitted, and the control level through which the device is requested to access. With SAT-IP, nothing happens until something is requested by the client.

SAT-IP technology does not require a complete home network upgrade. You can continue to use your existing satellite dishes. The central element of this technology is the SAT-IP server, which connects to the television receiver. This server receives the program and packs the TV data into IP packets. It transmits them through the router to the network and then to the devices via LAN or Wi-Fi.

If a client starts on the device, it searches the network for available SAT-IP servers. In most cases, servers and clients must have matching IP addresses. If the IP addresses match, the server lookup should automatically work through SSDP (Simple Service Discovery Protocol), since every server that is turned on registers itself on the network.

By the way, the SAT-IP standard provides for several SAT-IP servers in the network by default, which do not conflict with each other.

If the client and server find each other, clients can request streams. To do this, the standard provides classic HTTP as protocols or RTSP (Realtime Streaming Protokoll) configured for streaming.

Through a play request, the client requests a specific TV program from the server. To do this, you just need to call the desired thread ID. If the ID turns out to be correct, then RTP (Realtime Transport Protocol) packets are transmitted.

For a SAT-IP data packet, the MPEG2 / 4 stream is packed in the form of fragments of 188 bytes. Seven of these streams, together with the RTP, UDP and IP headers, form a SAT-IP packet of 1356 bytes.

SAT-IP transmits two types of data. At the control level are UPnP devices. Commands are sent via RTSP (Realtime Streaming Protokoll). At the media level, a TV stream is transmitted via RTP (Real Time Protoсol, Real Time Protocol) or HTTP. Data packets are packed and forwarded via UDP or TCP / IP protocols.

Data decoding

The SAT-IP standard does not limit the quality of transmitted data. It doesn't matter what is to be post-processed: SD, HD or 4K arriving at the TV receiver. In addition, SAT-IP is designed to transmit both unencrypted and encrypted programs.

To decode streams, the SAT-IP server or client must provide space for the connection interface. The TV program is decoded via the connection interface module and can then be transmitted to the network.

But, of course, SAT-IP will only work properly if you have a fast enough network. For full retransmission, DVB-S2 needs to plan 40 Mbit / s. If you need to run different programs through your home network in parallel, of course, you need a gigabit infrastructure.

"Satellite Internet" is a service of high-speed Internet access using satellite technologies with a connection speed of up to 20 Mbit / s². When a subscriber is within the coverage area of a Wi-Fi network, it is not required to purchase special equipment (VSAT) to organize access to the Internet using electronic devices a subscriber (computers, laptops, PDAs, smartphones) if such devices support wireless transmission technology wi-Fi data, with the help of which the Subscriber performs Internet access sessions.
