The production of specialized boats stands apart from the rest of the shipbuilding segment in Russia. Today, a significant advantage belongs to those enterprises that historically build ships in Russia, or those who have decided to locate production in the Russian Federation.

Fires can occur not only on the earth's surface. Fire often occurs in water bodies and coastal areas. In such cases, the Ministry of Emergency Situations uses fire boats.

They are used to eliminate fires arising from:

  • on the very water surface of the reservoir (rivers, lakes, seas and oceans)
  • at the facilities that are located there (ships, installations, lighthouses)
  • on the coastline

In addition, they are involved in rescue activities during various emergencies on the water and preventive work at installations related to oil production. Fire ships are able to quickly deliver to the disaster site necessary equipment, fire extinguishing agents and additional calculations of specialists. They tow the burning water infrastructure to land and help in saving people.

Main characteristics

By types, they are seaworthy, river and basic. In addition to ships, a boat is also part of the EMERCOM's water equipment. Due to its small size, it has good maneuverability. Capable of gaining greater speed than standard types of ships.

In addition to modern navigation qualities, special water transport must have the following characteristics:

  1. Autonomy.

It consists in the ability of the ship to carry out its direct functions for a specified time without additional replenishment with products, materials and equipment.

  1. Stability.

For participation in emergencies on the water, this property is of paramount importance. When exposed to external forces of force (weather conditions, fire, sea waves), fire-fighting ships must resist and maintain balance. When the disturbing effect ceases, the ship's hull returns to its original position.

  1. Running.

Using the main engine, even at the minimum power, the vessel is able to develop the required speed.

  1. Controllability.

The ability of the vessel to respond in a timely manner to any changes in the position of the main instruments and controls.

  1. Unsinkability.

Filling several compartments with water should not lead to flooding of the entire vessel. It, thanks to this property, is able to stay afloat.

The case also has its own characteristics. If you look at the fire ships in the photo, you can see that it is often smooth-decked. The body consists of durable steel, and the bow has a smooth shape.

To make the ships maneuverable, they have two-shaft undercarriages. Sometimes a special installation with water cannons and thrusters are installed on them.

Fire ships

Project 14613 vessel MARS

Such special-purpose vessels are considered to be auxiliary vehicles for emergency response on the water.

They all consist of the following elements:

  • hull with necessary superstructures
  • irrigation systems
  • pumps
  • sludge plant
  • water-foam communications

In order to prevent damage due to heat damage to the housing during the fight against fire, they are used. They provide the necessary perimeter protection. The body consists of reinforced compartments that are waterproof.

Superstructures are needed to accommodate household, service rooms, cabins for rest. For the uninterrupted power supply of the ship, there are auxiliary engines. They consist of generators and are equipped with 2 starting systems. It is possible to control the motors both from the central control center and from the machine department.

A minimum of 2, a maximum of 4 pumps are installed on ships to carry out fire extinguishing. Separate motors are used to drive them, sometimes it is possible to use main propulsion motors. To quickly replenish the pumps with water, their location should be below the waterline. The average amount of water supplied by them reaches 1000 m3 / h. In this case, the head can be up to 100 m.

The fire fighting equipment with which ships are equipped can be different. It depends on the type of vessel. But there are always at least 2 fire monitors. One is on the upper deck, and the other is in that part of the deck from which it will be moored during operation.

Fire boats

Small in size, the boat is operated mainly on small bodies of water - rivers and lakes. According to sanitary rules, this transport does not apply to ships on which the permanent presence or residence of people is allowed.

The most common is a steel water-jet rescue boat of the KS-110-39 type.

Water-jet boat KS-110-39 type

It applies in the following cases:

  • if necessary, supply water to the area of \u200b\u200bfire from a reservoir through a stationary type fire monitor;
  • when you need to quickly deliver additional forces of people, equipment or a supply of extinguishing agents to the place of fire;
  • when delivering foam to the fire from standard foam tanks.

The boats are also equipped with a fire extinguisher, an ax, a special crowbar and a fire blanket. For going aground, a winch with a rope up to 30 m is used, which can be easily carried. In some situations, a system is used to carry out volumetric fire extinguishing. A radio station is required. It receives power from the vessel's mains through a special power supply unit. The radio equipment is oriented towards an external antenna. The boat radio is stationary only. If it is necessary to transport a fire boat, they resort to ground transport (car or train).

The structure of the vessel is a metal frame, superstructure, control and motion systems, and an inflatable cushion. In the front part there is the helmsman's cabin, it contains the crew and the necessary equipment to control the HIVUS 20. The middle part is the section for transporting people and luggage, according to the main technical characteristics, the maximum capacity is 18 people, not including luggage. Inside the section there are seats upholstered in soft material and always equipped with seat belts. There are shelves and a bathroom. Luggage compartments are located outside.
