Rating of MBA schools. School of business: where to get an MBA in Russia. Additional Executive MBA Program Option

Based on the results of a survey of alumni, the MBA in Moscow and Russia portal (website) has formed the next, eighth, "People's rating" of the best MBA business schools at russian market ... The survey was supported by associations of graduates of most Russian business schools.

As in last year's ranking, the positions of business schools were determined by the sum of the arithmetic mean assessments of graduates mBA programs and EMBA following parameters: increased income, career growth, level of established business relationships, personal and professional development. The graduates rated each parameter from 1 (useless) to 5 (excellent). It should be emphasized that all these marks express the degree of satisfaction of graduates with the learning outcomes and are not always directly related to specific figures of income that graduates receive two years after graduating from business schools.

The main feature of the results of the current survey is more restrained estimates for almost all indicators. There can be several explanations for this, from a decline in the quality of training to the impact of the general economic situation. Obviously, in 2014-2015. employers' requirements for the knowledge and skills of managers increased significantly, while salary growth was limited. Therefore, the trainees, in turn, have higher learning requirements and would like to see more effective returns.

Judging by the estimates, it can be assumed that many business schools were unable to quickly reorganize and continue to teach in the previous, "pre-crisis" mode. Only the assessments of personal and professional development are still high, here business schools give consistently high results.

Another feature of this year's survey was the assessments of core business courses in the MBA and EMBA programs. The students evaluated the teaching of the following disciplines: economics, management, marketing, finance, project management, information management. In the overwhelming majority of cases, assessments of teaching business courses are higher than indicators of satisfaction with learning outcomes in general. We see one of the most probable explanations for this in the difficulties of putting the acquired knowledge into practice that business school graduates face.

Based on a survey of MBA graduates in 2013-2015, the portrait of students in MBA programs in Russian business schools was updated. As before, the majority are men, although their share has decreased from 74% to 68%. Accordingly, the share of MBA trainees increased by 6%.

As you can see, the largest age segments account for more than three quarters (76%).

Most MBA graduates decided to get a business educationworking in the positions of middle managers (42%) and top managers (28%). The remaining third were line managers (19%) and business owners (11%).

After MBA training the share of middle managers decreased by 17%, the share of line managers - by 15%. At the same time, the number of top managers grew by 20% and the number of business owners doubled (22%).
Career trajectories within each category of managers show a general tendency for a steady promotion after completion of MBA training.

International business school rankings usually use real annual figures wagesreported by MBA graduates. The domestic mentality does not imply such frankness, therefore, in the People's rating, the graduate indicates only the percentage of his income increase and assesses his satisfaction with his growth on a five-point scale. In other words, the graduate evaluates the degree to which the actual result corresponds to salary expectations upon admission.

In the vast majority of cases, career growth was accompanied by an increase in income. Middle income growth for all job categories MBA students 2 years after graduating from business schools in Moscow amounted to 47% , in St. Petersburg - 58% , in the regions - 34% .

Graduates from established business schools can develop faster careers and grow more profits than those who did not study business programs. The factor of the reputation of an educational institution plays an increasing role. Based on the results of a survey of graduates, the MBA in Moscow and Russia portal has formed the next, seventh in a row, “People's Rating” of the best Russian MBA schools.

Over the past five years, Russian business schools have been predominantly focused on managers aged 25-35. The study "MBA in Moscow and Russia" (www.mba.su) showed that the 36-40 age group accounts for about a third of the students, while managers in the 41+ age group are numerically only slightly inferior to the young.

More than 70% of the survey participants noted that they began to receive business education, working in the positions of middle and top managers, 10% - in the status of business owners. Four years later (two years of study plus two years after graduation), the share of middle managers decreased by 19%. Accordingly, the shares of top managers (up to 52%) and business owners (up to 21%) almost doubled.

Most of the graduates of domestic business schools, according to the survey, are men (in some - up to 89%), however, in schools with a predominantly younger audience, the proportion of women is higher.

Performance criteria

One of the main indicators of the effectiveness of MBA education around the world is income level two years after graduation. In most cases, MBA graduates improve their career position, accompanying it with an increase in income. According to mba.su, the income of middle managers after MBA grows on average by 44%, top managers - by 57%, business owners - by 96%. Even in the case of zero career growth, MBA graduates record an increase in income of 29-54%.

On average, for business schools whose graduates took part in the survey, their income growth was 54% two years after graduating from the MBA program. As a result of the training, 11% of middle and top managers became business owners.

Incentives for income growth are not reduced to the very existence of a diploma, but to those new opportunities to influence the overall success of the business, which are provided by the obtained expertise. New education helps to organize their work differently and improve the efficiency of work processes. The development of soft skills aimed at leadership skills, emotional intellect, effective communication.
