What are family traditions? These are the usual family norms, behaviors, customs and attitudes that are passed down from generation to generation.

Russia is a unique country that carefully preserves the traditions of its people, deeply rooted in Orthodoxy. Nativity of Christ The main winter holiday. The day on the eve of Christmas is called kolyada. People dressed up, went from house to house, wishing well and prosperity. In our family, this is always a revered holiday. Mom treats the people who have come with sweets, visit the temple, prepare treats, invite relatives to visit.

Maslenitsa Maslenitsa was a favorite holiday, it lasted a whole week and marked the farewell to winter and the welcome of spring. All work stopped, and noisy fun began. We went to visit each other, abundantly treated ourselves to pancakes, pancakes, pies. We rode horse-drawn sleds, sleighs. This holiday is celebrated on the squares of towns and villages today. On Sunday, farewell to winter is held, a scarecrow is burned, and they walk. We also follow this tradition at home and at school.

Easter The celebration of Easter is perhaps the main custom and the most significant Orthodox event for Russians. The word "Passover" comes from the Greek language and means "passing", "deliverance".

Baptism Baptism is the oldest custom, which in the Orthodox and Catholic Churches belongs to the category of sacraments. It means the acceptance of a person into the bosom of the Christian church. After baptism, they say: "He became a divine man," that is, he joined the divinity. It is customary to invite relatives and friends to christenings, to set the festive table. The rite in Russia is performed in the same way as it has been done for centuries - with the help of the godfather and mother. On this day, everyone makes gifts to the newborn.

Wedding Weddings were usually celebrated in the fall or winter after Epiphany. Today, weddings are held mainly in the spring or summer. The wedding ceremony took a long time. The godfather with the godmother or the boy's parents came to match the girl. They sat down and started a conversation: "You have a product, we have a merchant." Then a series of pre-wedding meetings took place: the bride's show, an acquaintance with the groom's household. After that, preparations for the wedding took place for about a month. Throughout this period, the bride's friends gathered in her house for evenings, helped to prepare gifts for the wedding and a dowry: they sewed, knitted lace, embroidered. All ceremonies were accompanied by songs. For believers, the wedding is accompanied by a religious ceremony - a wedding.
