How to start the process of integrating social and charitable projects into the business and corporate culture of the company? What to pay attention to? Can we achieve Win-Win and what exactly do business and NPOs get out of this cooperation? These and other questions will be answered by the RCG advertising group of companies Elina Polihina.

I want to tell about how the integration process was passed and passes in our group of companies. Much of what we offer our customers in this area, we first try on yourself. That is why socio-charitable projects have long been an integral part of our corporate culture.

We have accumulated a lot of experience: there are progress, findings, there were mistakes, and failures. And most importantly - our projects are alive, they continue and will continue, and therefore the story will be practically online. And since in one article it is impossible to describe all our projects, it will be a whole series of materials, in each of which the reader can find something necessary and useful for himself.

But before I want to tell what journey is almost every Russian company in the field of social and charitable projects, show you an overview of the development of charity in Russian companies in the last 10 years.

So, Stage №1.One-time donations "on request".They are also called "targeted help." This may be a personal initiative of the company owner, and may be the "bottom" initiative, from ordinary employees.

For example, on my past place of work, employees sometimes collected money to an operation with a specific child from Rusfund. And at the current place of work, this initiative was launched about 10 years ago the owners themselves, which turned into a long-term tradition of December trips to an orphanage.

Stage number 2. Charity events.

The basic condition is the presence of an idea for which promotions are held, for example:

Assistance to the participants of the Second World War to the Victory Day;

Gardening of the city;

Collecting things, etc.

In early 2016, with my colleague, the head of the selection of special projects by Olga Lomoy, discussed the possibilities of our cooperation with her and agreed that the most interesting and promising for us is the development of the direction of CSR, social projects and the topic of charity as part of corporate culture. From the point of view of the HR strategy, at that time KPIs were already identified in the field of corporate culture, loyalty and HR brand, see table.

Evaluation factor

Fact on the results of the survey (2016)

Objectives (2020)

Common level of employees involvement

7,36

Management level of work in the company

7,64

Staff loyalty level

Employer brand through the eyes of employees

(HR-brand)

7,85

The brand of the employer through the eyes of candidates

(HR-brand)

Approximately 30% of vacancies is closed by high-level candidates from competing agencies. They handle the desire to work in RCG.

For an objective assessment of the results, we conducted an annual survey, which contains questions about charity and the attitude of employees to this topic, as far as it is important for them, and it is significant that such work is carried out in the group of companies.

We started with a number of socio-charity shares:

Sign in support of a charitable Foundation "Life as a miracle" in the Moscow Marathon;

Collecting things for charitable sales;

Collection of gifts for the elderly - the wards of the "Old age to joy" Foundation;

Participation in the program of social adaptation of pupils of orphanages in conjunction with the charity foundation "here and now", etc.

We conducted strategic sessions for three charitable foundations - "Life as a miracle", "Salmon" and "Sport for Life", known for the project "Marathon in the Darkness", and for one Public Fund - "Fatherhood", and also developed several creative concepts socially oriented projects for charitable funds "Life as a miracle", "SheroDar", "Old age in joy", "Volunteers to help children-orphans" for the Fathership Food Fund, for the Foundation for the Field of Harmonization Relations of Animal and Society "Not Just Dogs" "(PET) and others.

Conducting all these shares, we, firstly, looked at interest and activity from our employees - something was more successful and caused more interest, something, as they say, "did not go." And in parallel we looked at the beneficial result we brought funds. It was a method of trial and errors, a period of collecting and analyzing information, as well as the results obtained.

Stage number 3.Software charity.

By the third stage, any company in the way of the implementation of social and charitable projects comes sooner or later.It is distinguished availability of management tools: project mission, goals and objectives, deadlines, KPIs, implementation tools, as well as the globality of issues in general, requiring time and means. This is a full-fledged design work.

What way we went. First, they studied in more detail the problematics interest in us, namely the question of social adaptation of pupils - graduates of orphanages. Leaving in adulthood, they have a very limited social experience, they have no knowledge and skills necessary to start an independent life. Hence sad statistics:

40% become alcoholics and drug addicts;

40% go into crime;

10% finish the life of suicide

and only 10% somehow adapt in society.

After examining this question in detail, we decided to focus on the issue of social adaptation and career guidelines for children's homes. Determined for themselves the mission of the project, which sounds like this: "To involve as many people as possible in the social adaptation of pupils of orphanages: orphans and children left without parental care."

In 2016-2017, we have already taken the first steps within this project, organized together with the Master Class Foundation for the Pupils of Children's Houses, launched their project "cool thing" to help the Foundation Financially in the implementation of activities under the Social Adaptation Program.

In 2017, we ripened for independent development and implementation of a long-term project for a specific orphanage in the Moscow region. The essence of our project is to social adaptation and professional orientation of the pupils of the orphanage. The target audience is 9 class students. The period for which the project is calculated is at least 1 year, but I think that in reality it is 2-3 years.

Together with the leadership of the orphanage, we defined the tasks you need to implement within the project:

To form a motivation to study and development in adolescents;

Help with the choice of profession (in June they will come to colleges and professional schools);

Psychological development of adolescents for further integration into society (to form a sense of responsibility and independence, develop interpersonal communication skills, to teach it acceptable to express their emotions, to constructively resolve conflicts, form an adequate self-esteem).

So, at what stage we are now:

Developed the program for 2018, which was approved with the leadership of the orphanage;

Determined with the project partner - Charitable Foundation "Senior Brothers Senior Sisters";

Kiev, July 3, 2014 - The Center "Development of CSR" announces the start of accepting applications for the VI National Cases Contest on CSR "CSR to conflict times". Partners of the competition this year are EY and DTEK. Intellectual Partner of the Competition - Kiev-Mogilyanskaya Business School.
This year, given the situation in the country, the Center "Development of CSR" collects cases about which company projects are implementing today, in conflict times in Ukraine, according to such as aspects as:

- HR practice, including internal communications;
- organizational management and strengthening of corporate culture;
- development of local communities;
- Environmental practices;
- Honest operational practices;
- Work with consumers.

"There are times when past, even good ideas, do not work. This year, after discussion with partners, we realized that the CSR is especially important in conflict times. Moreover, now we will not be able to evaluate the efforts of companies that, like the whole country, are working for the unity of Ukraine. We simply need to highlight their positive experience and demonstrate to other companies working in different countries of our troubled world (World VUCA), which can do a socially responsible company, "Marina Saprykin, Executive Director of the Center for the Development of CSR.

This year, cases will not be assessed. The collected practices will be published in the book "CSR to conflict times" (in Ukrainian and English). Practices will also be presented at the Final Conference of the CSR competition in conflict times on November 20.

"In the complex political and economic situation in Ukraine it is very important that the business does not reduce its programs on CSR, but on the contrary, made them as efficient and meet today's challenges. DTEK has retained the planned volume of investment on the implementation of social programs. We are deeply confident that in the conditions of the current realities it is very important to continue projects aimed at creating. This year, about 130 million UAH will be directed to the development of cities of DTEK. The political and economic crisis has proven the relevance of our projects. Of course, current events may affect the needs of the regions and we are ready to consider these changes.

We decided to support the contest of cases this year, because We believe that a positive example, which shows companies in Ukraine to overcome the crisis will serve as a catalyst for positive changes in the country, "said Victoria Mushroom, Head of the Social Development Department of DTEK.

"The events that began in Ukraine in November 2013 have changed the country. We are still experiencing rapid times, but there are already experience in making decisions in critical situations in each company. The situation deepened the relationship "Company - Employee", "Company - Society", worked real values, priorities were arranged. The experience of CSR leaders will, of course, will be useful and important for readers of the publishing of cases, the release of which is scheduled for November 2014. This year there will be no points and evaluation criteria, but there will be unique and priceless cases of corporate responsibility during the period of public crisis, "says Natalia Telenkova, Head of the CSR Committee of the company EU.

Cases this year are served in accordance with the following structure: the problem is the solution - the result. The competition includes the following steps: Practitioner collection (July 3 - October 3), preparation of the PSR publication in conflict times (October 4 - November 4), CSR conference in conflict times (November 20).

On June 30, 2009, the first All-Ukrainian competition of business cases on corporate social responsibility (further - CSR) officially started. The organizer of the competition is the Center for the Development of Corporate Social Responsibility, with the support of Ernst & Young, "Will", "Austrian Airlines" and UF "Asters".

The business case is considered an innovative decision of the company in a strategic context, which positions the goals and conditions of the environment affecting the decision. It is also an excellent opportunity to explore and evaluate professionalism, habits and competence of the company's management. Of course, this is a simplified form of filing an innovative solution to the company, but since the occurrence of the business case at the Law Faculty of Harvard School of Business in 1869, he does not lose its popularity. This is evidenced by the agreement of this business school with the writer D. Styl regarding the processing of business cases and feed them in an exciting form. By the way, a business case arose from the need, since the Harvard Business School teachers realized that they were not found good textbooks for business administration. Therefore, they began to interview the best managers and record their management principles in order to then discuss with listeners and make recommendations regarding the company's actions in the described situation.

The idea of the All-Ukrainian Competition of Business Cases with CSR also arose of the need to convey corporate social responsibility to university and business school curricula. The authors of the first allowance on the CSR, which is being developed today, appealed to the company with a request to provide Ukrainian cases. In response, only general practices and foreign experience of CSR companies were received, which did not answer the task. Therefore, this contest was initiated.

Based on the text of the International Social Responsibility Standard ISO 26000, CSR should be understood as the Company's responsibility for the influence of its solutions and activities on society and the environment. This concept has its integral, namely: organizational management, respect for human rights (including gender equality), good labor practices, environmental protection, the issue of protecting consumer rights and community development, social reporting. It is these components that have become separate category nominations.

It can be recognized that an event occurred in Ukraine that can cause a wide movement of followers in the world. Today in different countries of the world, there are two types of business case contest on CSR. First, it is the creation of a database of the best practices of companies. Secondly, it is a gaming competition, when students of universities or business schools offer a real situation or problem, and they must develop its decision in the teams. In Ukraine, these two ideas united in one - in the competition of business cases on CSR, where there are also the best practices of companies, and the real game situation for students. Of course, the very idea of business cases and their meetings are not Nova: different magazines, expert organizations collect them, publish. Sometimes companies themselves hire business school teachers so that they describe the practice of the company and its management decisions and then began to teach them. And this is the spread of the company's experience on dozens, hundreds, thousands of people.

Business cases are more active than all business schools. But there are organizations that combine the experience of business schools and have entire collections of cases. For example, the European Clearing House of Cases, which united about 600 business schools and corporate members (from Ukraine, only Philip Maurice is corporate member) and the collected more than 35 thousand business cases. Unfortunately, from Ukraine they can be found there only 17. So, we hope our competition will help to increase the representative office of Ukrainian practices in business school curriculum.

The common goal of the competition is to provide solutions to companies in the field of corporate social responsibility as an integral part of the development development strategy.

The 2009 International Research Center of the Corporate Citizenship of the Boston College has proved that the implementation of CSR helps to improve financial indicators to enhance the company's reputation (77%); attracting talented employees (55%); the response to the expectations of society (35%); improvement of operating efficiency and reduction of costs (34%); strengthening competitive position (33%); the discovery of new opportunities for growth and improve risk management (23%); Improving access to capital (4%). Consequently, these facts confirm that corporate social responsibility can be considered a case for business.

But another question appears: Is the corporate social responsibility to business case for companies working in Ukraine? How much to introduce the CSR strategy or programs is useful for them? Are the companies of the faithful CSR today, in difficult times? I am sure that the competition will answer not only these questions. Other of his tasks are:

- search, selection and creating a database of the best practices of CSR companies;

- Association of the experience of companies and business schools / universities: companies have good practices from CSR, and representatives and teachers of higher educational institutions have knowledge and competence all this to describe;

- promotion of the image of Ukrainian companies and their CSR projects in Ukraine and abroad; - Receiving expert advice on the necessary solutions of companies in the field of CSR: That is, the company will provide its business case, and experts will be able to advise whether the management decision was right;

- the introduction of the training method on cashas on corporate social responsibility to universities and business schools. Competition will be held in two stages. The first stage, during which participants should prepare and submit business cases, will continue from June 30 to September 30. During the second stage in October, the Cases will appreciate the international jury. The international jury includes representatives of eight countries, including Austria, Belgium, United Kingdom, Norway, Poland, USA, Turkey, Ukraine. Almost all members of the jury are teachers or coaches, two of them are taught in business schools (Norwegian School BI and St. Galen University). We hope that such an interethnic jury can easily determine the best among seven mentioned nominations and distribute points from zero to five to these criteria: innovativeness, practical significance, implementation of the decision, socio-economic results for the company, socio-economic results for the region, the form of provision Business Case.

But this is only the first stage of evaluation. To make a business case become a business case, he needs to lose. Therefore, the best, according to the jury, business cases will be put on practical classes for students and top managers, where they are considered in terms of interest for teaching and finding other management decisions. It is this criterion called the criterion "multifunctionality" of the business case, and is the most important, therefore, the maximum score on it is 20 points. After summing up the best business case will receive the Competition Grand Prix.

Business Case must be provided in Ukrainian and English. The problem described in it should concern the real Ukrainian practices in 2005-2009. Already today we have suggestions from companies that began to engage in social responsibility far earlier - back in 1998, but these pioneers can also file applications. The main thing is that there were a real business problem that required or requires a managerial decision; Chronology of the development of the situation, fixing its temporary framework; Yes, and evidence - specific data (numbers, names, modifications of products, services, etc.), indicating the reality of the situation, events.

Participants may have any legal and / or individuals who are citizens of Ukraine, which, at the time of filing an application for the competition, turned 18 years, including Ukrainian and international companies; higher educational institutions; business schools; public organizations; MASS MEDIA; Experts, etc. An interesting point is that in the framework of the competition participants who have a desire, but do not have a practical case, as well as on the contrary - participants having a case, but not know how to write (that is, companies and teachers) will be able to register As wishing participants, and they will find a couple. On the one hand, this will allow companies to save time and spelling resources, on the other - will allow teachers to save time for the search.

The best business practices will be included in the first CSR allowance edited by the CSR development center, as well as published by a separate publication.

Of course, there are risks in the competition. Some doubt that companies will be able to provide cases, others suggest that there will be too much. But communication with the company still calms down a bit. Of course, you will have to work a lot, because the first, pilot contest, and meetings are already scheduled for two months ahead. But one thing consists of one thing: companies in Ukraine have good practices and are ready to tell about them, and not leave them under the cloth. They understand that their cases are already waiting for the young generation of managers, ready to learn in Ukrainian examples, discuss them and find new, perhaps even more promising solutions.
