I was surprised by this name of a familiar object - after all, from childhood we were taught that chicken is the only correct form of this word. I was not too lazy, I got into the dictionaries. Dal has such a word, but Dal has just collected outdated, vernacular and dialect words !! And the initial form of the word Dahl gives m.r. "chickens" (the one that is in the cabbage soup or in the pluck :-)). In the Ozhegovsky dictionary there are no such forms, only 1 correct initial form of the word is named - "chicken".
