What is the difference between aroma stone and aroma pendant and aroma lamp?

Aroma stone is very similar in its principle of action to aroma plate. It is made of porous material: clay, gypsum and even salt dough, and can be in the shape of any small figure. But most often it is shaped like a natural stone, hence the name of the aromatic accessory.

You can place the aroma stone at the workplace or in home office... Since the vapors of the essential oil evaporate naturally, without swaying when moving, like in an aroma lamp, and without additional heating, like in an aroma lamp, the area of \u200b\u200bthe scented space does not go beyond the workplace, without causing disturbance to others.

It can be used to safely and cheaply flavor clothes and linen by placing the aroma accessory in cabinets and drawers.

Scent stone can be an inexpensive and more natural alternative to car air fresheners and rarely ventilated areas.

We fill the aroma stone.

To fill the aromatic stone, just drop a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto the porous surface and wait until it is absorbed into the surface. After that, the aroma accessory can be safely carried for clothes with you in a jacket pocket or bag, which is very appealing to men who are limited in the use of aromatic pendants and medallions.

As the aroma is exhaled, which, depending on the selected aroma oil, can last from several hours to several days, the refueling should be repeated.

The advantages of aromatic stones.

Among the undoubted advantages of the aromatic accessory are:

  1. Mobility. Due to its small size, it is easy to move with you during the day;
  2. Ease of filling and application;
  3. Safety. Due to the absence of open fire and electricity, it does not require mandatory supervision. This is especially true if you have children and pets;
  4. Small aromatization space, does not interfere with colleagues at work and others at home;
  5. The aroma accessory is relatively inexpensive, and besides, it is easy to make it yourself.

Disadvantages.

  1. The porous structure of the aroma stone retains the remains of essential oil. Therefore, odor compatibility must be observed when changing aromas.
  2. Low healing efficiency when using medicinal aromatic oils due to low evaporation rate.

Do-it-yourself aroma stone.

Recipe 1. Aromatic gypsum stone.

First of all, we select a mold for the future accessory. Now there are many different silicone baking tins on sale, you can buy the one you like or use the old one. It is advisable to choose a blank with a small bulge in the center, then in the made aroma stone there will be a ready-made recess for filling with essential oil. At the first stage, we also need gypsum: medical or construction, a container for stirring: I recommend a plastic cup from sour cream or yogurt (do not mind throwing it away after use), water and a stirring stick.

Pour up to 1/3 of a plastic cup of gypsum, add water and stir with a stick until a homogeneous batter is obtained. Its density should allow the solution to be poured into the mold in the future, filling all its bends, and not manually shifted. After pouring the mold, I recommend shaking it lightly to evenly distribute the gypsum, eliminate voids and level the bottom. Gypsum hardens very quickly, so you need to do everything quickly and not try to fill out all the forms at one time, but limit yourself to 1-2. Gypsum is a rather fragile material, so I recommend pouring a small circle of gauze or bandage into the mold at the base.

After an hour or two, you can carefully remove the workpiece from the mold and leave to dry in natural conditions for a day and a half. Dry gypsum becomes completely white. Then we carefully sand all the irregularities and surpluses along the edges of the form with fine sandpaper.

Next, the workpiece can be painted and painted acrylic paint, leaving a porous recess where we will drip the aromatic oil. If you do not have the talent of an artist, that's okay. We take colorful napkins, cut out the motifs we like and use a brush and liquid PVA glue to glue it to the workpiece. The glue easily impregnates the napkin, so we apply the cut out blanks to the dry stone and apply the PVA with a brush on top. Dry, gently sand the excess and apply varnish several times, allowing it to dry between layers. Remove streaks near the base with a sandpaper, if such have formed. During all these operations, remember that the place for filling the aroma stone with essential oils should remain untreated.

It remains to fill the accessory with your favorite aroma oil and enjoy the effect of a handmade aroma stone.

Recipe 2. Aromakamenen from salted dough.

To prepare it, you will need regular flour, salt, warm water, some vegetable oil, kitchen dyes and essential oils. In order not to stain the skin of your hands with dyes, I recommend using cellophane gloves. Knead the dough from a ratio of 2 parts flour to 1 part salt with a small addition of vegetable oil for elasticity. If necessary, divide the kneaded dough into parts and add 5-20 drops of essential oil and dye. The dye not only diversifies accessories, but also helps to distinguish aroma stones with different essential oils by color. Knead the dough thoroughly until the aroma oil and dye are completely absorbed, divide into portions and shape the individual aroma stones. We dry them in a warm place.

Such aroma stones will give off aroma for several days, and you can resume their action by wiping with essential oils over the entire surface. Still, it is better to squeeze out a place in the mold for additional refueling of essential oil with your fingers or using badges, buttons and other objects.

Practical video: how to make aromatic stones with your own hands from salted dough.

Scented stone is something like a hard sachet, in fact it is a plaster or clay figurine soaked in your favorite essential oil. It can hide in a closet, scenting clothes, it can lie on your desk or hang next to your bed, you can carry it with you in your bag or keep it under your pillow.

We will need

Dry gypsum (better sculptural, but building is also possible - from 40-50 rubles per kg in hardware stores)

Silicone mold for baking or for ice (depending on what size you need a pebble)

Water

Strong, thick buttonhole thread

Needle

Small button

A little plasticine, but better plastic

Double sided tape

Thick Phillips screwdriver or drill

We sculpt a small heart from plasticine or plastic. We need it in order to make a depression on the surface of the aroma stone, into which oil will be poured. In fact, you can do without a deepening if you are not going to decorate your aroma stone, since gypsum absorbs essential oils perfectly. But I usually paint the stone with acrylic or decoupage, varnish it, which reduces the absorbency of gypsum.

So, we put the finished heart on the bottom of the mold, if necessary, we fix it with a piece of double-sided tape so that the gypsum does not flow under it.

Cooking plaster. Dilute 2-3 tablespoons with water to the consistency of not very thick sour cream.

Pour into the mold so as to slightly cover the heart (three millimeters).

Let's wait for the mixture to set a little. When the gypsum is wet, but not liquid, we will deal with the loop. To do this, you need to make the same simple structure as in the first photo:

It is necessary to pierce the shape from the inside out (so that the button is inside, and the needle with a loop is outside). After that, you can fill in the remaining plaster.

Three hours later, the still wet aroma stone must be carefully removed from the mold. Careful, it is still very brittle! We carefully remove the plasticine heart, this must be done while the gypsum has not yet dried completely. In addition, we need to make several indentations in the side of the pebble, like this:

They are needed so that ethers can drip onto the stone even in a hanging state and nothing flows out. We make recesses on the side of the aroma stone with a Phillips screwdriver or drill.

In addition to the aroma suspension, I made two more table stones:

It will take about 24 hours to completely dry the gypsum, after which you can safely start decorating. This is how the experimental aroma stones became after simple manipulations (decoupage):

Scented stones are easy to make and use, they can become a real interior decoration, not only stylish, but also useful. And also a set of aroma stone and several bottles of essential oils can be a wonderful gift for any occasion for both a woman and a man.

Good luck to everyone and endless creative inspiration !!!

Aroma is one of the most important components of a home's comfort. For this, various air fresheners can come in handy: candles with a variety of scents, sprays, incense sticks and much more. But hand-made aroma stones will delight you not only with smells, but also with a wonderful view, as they will perfectly fit into any interior.

The aroma stone is filled with essential oil. The gypsum will absorb the oil and slowly release the smell. The duration depends on the properties of the essential oil, the stronger and more stable the scent, the longer the aroma stone will be fragrant.

Materials:

  • Gypsum (powder)
  • Pouring mold (plastic or silicone)
  • Suitable for soap or baking

  • Acrylic paints (white and pink)
  • Pastel (yellow, blue and dark pink)
  • Acrylic primer
  • Acrylic lacquer
  • Rhinestones
  • Transparent adhesive gel
  • A piece of plasticine
  • Gypsum dilution tank (plastic cup)
  • Wooden stick for mixing plaster
  • Paint and tinting brushes

Stick a small piece of plasticine to the bottom of the mold, this will be a depression for the essential oil.

In order for the fill to be smooth, substitute a mug under the shape.

We will make aroma stone from plaster. In a plastic cup, we dilute gypsum in warm water, about 40 degrees. I took more than half a glass and made 3 small aroma stones. I needed 10 tablespoons of gypsum with a slide.

Stir the plaster quickly. You should get the consistency of liquid sour cream.

If you make it thicker, you may not have time to fill the mold evenly and various defects in the product are possible.

Gently pour the mixture into the mold and leave for 30-60 minutes.

We take out our flower and carefully remove the plasticine from it. Leave to dry for a day in a warm place. Best on a battery or stove.

You can check whether the product is dry by placing it on a piece of paper. If after half an hour, having lifted it, you do not see a wet trace or waves do not appear on the sheet, then the stone has dried up.

Now you need to prime the entire surface of the flower, except for the groove.

At this stage, the flower can be painted with acrylics, but I covered the top layer of the flower with white paint and tinted the middle with pastels.

Cover the bottom layer with pale pink acrylic paint. I don't have this paint, I mix hot pink with white.

I tint the bottom flower with a dark pink pastel.

I'll use a cotton swab for a soft color transition.

Give some more color to the white chamomile and tint the base of the petals with blue pastels.

It's time to varnish the product. Close the recess with a piece of cotton wool.

Add some tenderness to the flower and glue some rhinestones on the glue gel. The aroma stone is ready!

Scented stones are not only environmentally friendly, but also trendy air freshener. They are able not only to diversify and decorate the interior, but also to create an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. With their help, you can tune in to a romantic mood and enjoy with your favorite romantic evening. Aromatic stones can become not only a beautiful accessory, but also a pleasant handmade gift.

DIY aroma stones: master class

To make your own scent stones, you will need porous materials. You can make them from gypsum, clay, dough, or salt. Food coloring can be added. This way, you get stones of different interesting colors.

Let's consider how to make aroma stones from the simplest material - salt dough.

So, you will need:

1/2 cup flour. It is advisable to sift it.

1/2 cup salt. It is better to take finely ground salt, you can take iodized salt.

Food coloring 5-10 drops depending on how intense the color you want.

1/4 cup warm water

Vegetable oil 1 teaspoon. Oil is needed to give the dough plasticity.

Essential oil 5-20 drops. You can mix several oils.

You can also add starch, spices or dried herbs if desired.

So, let's start cooking.

Mix all dry ingredients first. If you want to add herbs, you need to grind them. In a separate bowl, combine all of the liquid ingredients. Gradually add liquid ingredients to dry ingredients. Stir well and knead the dough. The dough should be firm and stringy. From the resulting dough we form aroma stones. They can be of various shapes: round, square, oblong, like sea pebbles.

Also, to form stones, you can use various shapes in the form of a flower, heart, butterfly, etc.

Once formed, the stones do not need to be baked, you just need to let them dry. If cracks appear after baking completely, you can oil them. To do this, you can use a few drops of aromatic oil.

You can use several scent oils, combine colors and add various decorative elements such as glitter.

Since these stones are completely environmentally friendly, they can be created with children. This can be a great family activity.

Scented stones can be a great addition to any decor. They will look especially beautiful in a glass vase.

If you are interested in creating original decorative elements, there are many photo and video tutorials.

And although aromatic stones from salt dough are quite easy to make and not expensive, they cannot be stored for a long time.

If you need to store aroma stones for a long time, you should take gypsum as a basis. Plaster aroma stones are also quite simple to make.

How to make aroma stones from plaster

Let's take a look at how to make beautiful aroma stones from plaster. For this we need:

  • Dry gypsum (it is better to take a sculptural one, but building is also suitable).
  • Silicone molds. You can use a baking dish or ice mold. Depending on what size stone you need.
  • Water.
  • Plasticine.
  • Double-sided tape.

Make a small heart out of plasticine. Place it on the bottom of the mold, attaching it with double-sided tape so that plaster does not pour under it. This is necessary to form a depression into which the aroma oil will then be poured. However, you can do without the deepening if you do not plan to decorate the aroma stone, paint with acrylic or varnish. As this reduces the absorbency of the gypsum. Gypsum has excellent absorbent properties.

To prepare gypsum, dilute two or three tablespoons of dry gypsum with water until the consistency of sour cream.

Pour the plaster into the mold. If you do decide to make a notch, cover the plasticine heart by three millimeters.

Wait for the cast to set. It should be moist but not runny. Then pour the remaining plaster into the mold.

After three hours, the still raw aromagips must be removed from the mold. Pull it out very carefully, the plaster is not yet dry enough and may crumble. Remove the plasticine heart. It will take 24 hours for the plaster to dry completely, then you can start decorating.

Aromatic stones are easy to make and can decorate any interior. Scented stones, supplemented with aromatic oil, will be a wonderful, original gift.
