I had a wedding at the restaurant, although I am sure that this is a wonderful option for a business meeting and especially for a romantic date.
When choosing a restaurant for a wedding, we focused primarily on the beautiful location, and not on the cuisine. Time has shown that this was the right priority. The gorgeous view from the Assembly restaurant (in the President Hotel) became the main highlight of the wedding. This is what all the guests remember. Of course, we read reviews about the kitchen, but that wasn’t the main thing. At the beginning we thought about nature, but nature is nature everywhere, and a wedding is not fishing, so we decided to find a place with a beautiful view of Moscow. We thought about a rooftop restaurant with a terrace to hold the ceremony there. The wedding was in mid-May, everything was conducive to it.
The trouble is that in Moscow most roofs and terraces do not look aesthetically pleasing at all. Even in the center. And where the view is normal (Library, White Rabbit), price tags started from several hundred thousand just for rent. I had to search the entire Internet. And so, the ideal place was found on Yakimanka, in the Assembly restaurant in the President Hotel. He was recommended by our wedding planner Yulia Rudneva, for which special thanks go to her. Gorgeous view of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior from the 14th floor!!! The hall was of the correct shape, spacious and required virtually no decoration, and the decor cost us less. This place became the main feature of our wedding. The guests opened their mouths with delight when they went out onto the terrace. Everyone remembers these beautiful views. Most of the terrace at the Assembly restaurant is covered and ceremonies can be organized there even in the rain. Undoubtedly, the Assembly restaurant is the best venue in Moscow and this place made our wedding. The wedding ceremony was held on the terrace, against the backdrop of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Peter the Great and Red October. Guests from other cities saw the best view of Moscow.
See the restaurant's food output. Food should be 1.3-1.5 kg per person, including a welcome buffet (if there is one). “Assembly” offered us standard sets at the beginning. If money is tight, then this is the way out. But in fact, the weight there is about 1.1 kg per guest. This is IMHO not enough. Therefore, we refused their “sets” and made our own set from the menu they offered. It turned out a little more expensive, but quite adequate and still cheaper than the average price tag in Moscow. Pay attention to portion sizes. In some places, hot food is served “to the table” or “to take away”, in fact it’s a ridiculous 80-90g/person. And you need about 250g. per person. We do not recommend ordering dishes “at the table” on shared trays; this risks leaving guests without the dish they liked or even hungry. Limit drinks to 1.5 liters per person. These are non-alcoholic.
Of the dishes, I especially remember the julienne in a pancake and the salad with smoked duck.
We talked with the banquet manager Elena Ulybina - a very nice girl, as they say, “client-oriented”. She treated us informally, gave us a lot of advice on the menu and made us some incredible discounts and concessions. They gave us about 50,000 rubles, made a minimum corkage fee, not per bottle, but per person, took into account non-drinkers, and allowed us to bring tea and sandwiches for the musicians and decorators. Well, the kitchen turned out to be excellent. The waiters did a thorough job. I printed out a seating chart for them with the names of the guests and the layout for which alcohol and which hot dish. To be honest, I didn’t believe that they would take all this into account. But the day before the banquet, manager Roman showed me a stack of printouts that he handed over to the waiters.
The waiters there are all middle-aged and it is clear that they have good experience, they are kind and polite. Everyone was friendly, including managers and waiters and hotel security. We communicated somehow like one another, even like a family.
And a couple of weeks before the wedding, our manager Elena Ulybina called us and said that we were being given a luxury room at the President Hotel with a view of the Moscow River as a gift. What a gift! 13th floor, with an excellent breakfast, and the ability to check out at 5 pm.

We celebrated our wedding on October 10th at Bechamel. Everyone - me, my husband, and the guests - were completely delighted with the cuisine, the service, and the interior.
At our wedding, a lot went wrong in the morning (the weather, the florists let me down with a bouquet), and the restaurant is the only place where I finally completely relaxed and calmed down for the whole day, because everything was done PERFECTLY.
Even on my first visit to Okhtinskaya, when I was just choosing a banquet hall, I immediately fell for the wonderful banquet manager Ekaterina. Katyusha is a charm, very attentive and caring, for the whole month and a half of preparations and discussions I had a complete feeling that everything in this institution is being done for me and for me, if only I was satisfied. Brides know how much they have to keep in mind when preparing for a wedding, so they will understand me - how important it is when you can completely rely on professionals in something. And here, at Okhtinskaya, you can really be sure of everything! The entire staff here is wonderful, starting from Catherine, as the "conductor" of all preparations for the celebration, ending with cooks, pastry chefs, waiters and everyone, everyone, everyone.
Okhtinskaya has several banquet halls; we only needed one for 11-12 people. I looked at Bechamel (beautiful white and black interior, wrought iron elements, which I madly adore, and due to the white background they do not "heavier" the space; in general, everything looks easy and stylish). Bechamel is suitable for 30-40 people, according to my feelings. You can do less - then there will be space. That's what I wanted. Katya also offered us the "Small Okhtinsky" hall - it is 20-25 people, made in white and lilac colors, very cute, although rustic (compared to Bechamel). But its windows overlook the panorama of the Neva, Bolsheokhtinsky Bridge and the temple. Crazy beauty! And if someone orders hall decorations for a wedding (balloons, ribbons or something else), then Maly Okhtinsky is generally ideal. It is like a “blank slate”; you can create any decor on it without overloading the decor. Bechamel is very clearly thought out and designed on its own, so it’s unnecessary to shove any other decorations there, in my opinion (but this is my personal opinion - against the backdrop of my crazy love for the style in which Bechamel is made on its own, without any additions). We weren't supposed to have decorations, that's why I wanted Bechamel. But if I was going to decorate the hall, then Maly Okhtinsky would definitely be more suitable.
Ekaterina gave me menu options, a “banquet designer”, explained the composition of all dishes, in general, advised me on all the little things, including quantity. Heeding the groom's requests, I ordered more than Katya recommended - in the end everyone overeated, but still couldn't eat everything they ordered. :)) Conclusion: listen to the words of the banquet manager, she won't say it in vain!
The food is incredibly delicious. The guests then remembered our banquet for a long time, and they remembered a lot of dishes - that is, they liked everything so much that people could not even determine what they liked more: they named different dishes. I was impressed by absolutely everything - delicious salads, julienne, and delicious pancakes with home-smoked trout. The fish (“Duet of Salmon and Telapia”) simply melts in your mouth. And the “Bavarian” pork steak, marinated in red wine, is so tender and aromatic - you can feel that it was marinated for a long time and with high quality! I don’t really like pork, but I ate this with great pleasure. In general, the cooks at Okhtinskaya are magicians. The kitchen is great. Everything is so delicious and I so want to eat more and more that I don’t understand how I didn’t burst while the banquet lasted) Apparently, the corset saved me))
A separate topic - CAKE! Designer cake from pastry chef Tatyana Okhtinskaya, any design and filling. I drew the sketch of the cake myself (mastic two-tier) on paper, and we made it exactly according to my drawing. I didn't even expect the repetition to be so accurate. I'll try to attach a photo to the review - I hope it works. At my request, Tatyana made us figures of two bear cubs from mastic - the bride and the groom! The mastic is very sweet, and the cake itself with yogurt cream, cream and fruit in the layer was moderately sweet, the fruit gave a slight sourness - it was a great play of flavors. We devoured the cake in 2 days.
We ordered alcohol and juices at a wholesale price from the supplier of the restaurant itself: we don’t have a car, and lugging the same boxes of juice to the restaurant on the eve of the wedding by public transport is a dubious pleasure.
I announced the banquet for 17-17:30, but due to rain on the wedding day, we arrived at the restaurant at 16:30. Everything was covered for us very quickly, while we went to the observation deck of the hotel on the 13th floor and admired the panorama of the city from above - we returned, and everything was ready, we could take our seats!
And the background music was also selected and played for us by the restaurant. Everything is very on topic, and special thanks for the music, since I myself did not have the energy and time to select it and prepare the disc.
Special compliments to the service. Since there were few of us, we were served by one waiter - Vladimir, if I'm not mistaken. His work was as magnificent as everything else in Okhtinskaya: he was completely invisible, extremely delicate, but at the same time he was always there as soon as he was needed, answered all questions and instantly responded to all requests. Absolute professionalism. I don’t know where they teach this, but it seems that Vladimir graduated from some kind of higher school of service excellence. We all felt incredibly comfortable with him.
At the end of the banquet, everything was packed for us (!!! absolutely! except for the salads from the table, which I simply refused to pack myself, because I have nowhere to store it all) in special boxes and bags (the hotel provided the packaging itself). We collected the cold cuts from the tables. In general, everything that could be packed was given to us. The unfinished alcohol was also capped and loaded onto us.
To summarize - a beautiful interior, excellent cuisine, a wonderful designer cake, top-notch service - in general, the restaurant of the Okhtinskaya Hotel is that part of the wedding where I was finally completely relaxed and happy, because everything was going as it should, and even better. And our guests still remember with admiration the banquet at Bechamel. My fiance did not participate in choosing a restaurant, so to speak, he “used what was ready” and was also delighted - he said that to celebrate some anniversaries or something like that, we would only come here and nowhere else.
