IT magazine Computer Bild closed in Russia

The Russian edition of the IT magazine Computer Bild, which existed for about nine years, is closed. The last issue will be out of print tomorrow, June 19, 2015. Employees of the publication are looking for work.

As it became known to CNews, the Russian IT magazine Computer Bild, which has been published in our country since 2006, has ceased to exist. The publication was published once every two weeks.

Computer Bild offered its readers news of the computer industry, articles and tips for those interested in the Internet, audio, video, photography. The concept of the publication was based on practical recommendations on the choice of programs and office equipment, based on the results of tests of the journal's own laboratories in Russia and Germany. The paper editions were accompanied by a DVD with a book, video tutorials and a selection of software.

The fact that the magazine was closed was brought to the public by the employees of the magazine, who started looking for a new job using social networks.

PR-manager of the publishing house "Burda" Ilya Wagner sent the following official comment to CNews: “Burda Publishing House will stop publishing Computer Bild magazine in Russia after issue 13/2015. The decision was made by agreement with the licensor Axel Springer in connection with the difficult economic situation in the country, which led to a drop in demand for the publication. "

In the world, the first release of Computer Bild was released in Germany in 1996. After that, from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s. local versions of the publication also appeared in France, Spain, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Russia (in 2006) and Bulgaria.

The magazine is published worldwide by Axel Springer. In Russia, at the beginning of 2013, Computer Bild was bought from Axel Springer Russia by the Burda publishing house, which at that time already owned the IT magazine Chip. “We are confident that both brands complement each other perfectly. Now we will be able to offer our advertising partners an even more attractive package of services, "said the general director of Burda in Russia at the time. Jurgen Ulrich.

The exact circulation of Computer Bild varied depending on the sales season and the demand for the last few issues, amounting to several tens of thousands of copies.

On the Rospechat website you can still find an offer to subscribe a monthly subscription to the magazine for i 465.35, a six-month subscription for i 2792.1 and an annual subscription for i 5584.2.

The Russian version of the magazine is highly optimized for the requirements of the readers. When preparing articles and such courses, the editorial office uses programs translated into Russian. Only in some cases (when there is no translation of the program into Russian), the editors use programs with an English interface. Despite its German origin, the Russian edition of the magazine does not use programs with a German interface. Therefore, even if the editorial office uses a translated article from the original publication, then each text goes through an adaptation stage before it appears on the pages of a Russian magazine. The presence in Russia of the product itself (program, service, device), which is discussed in the article, is checked. Missing data, such as addresses and phone numbers of company representatives in Russia, are brought in line with the actual situation. Images are also corrected - screenshots of programs in German are completely replaced with similar images in Russian. Thus, the reader receives the most simplified instructions that allow him to perform this or that action with a computer, program or any Internet service. At the moment, the content of the journal consists of 15% translated content - the bulk of the articles are prepared by the Russian editorial staff, relying on numerous traditions and experience of the original publication, but avoiding direct borrowing of the content.
